Lunzing Toward Irrelevance

Obviously, Rs have field-tested their pablum with focus groups and decided they have a winner. Wonder what they paid Frank Lunz. In any case, it's been the terme du annum so far: Obama doesn't believe in "American Exceptionalism." I wrote about it recently, and, after the SOTU, you'd think it would be a dead issue (not that it ever deserved life.) But no:

PARKER: You know one of the words that I listened out for in his speech last night was the word "exceptional." ... But I didn't hear him say it and I thought at a time when you're building a speech around sort of defining the common purpose of America, that seemed to me a rather -- you know, a simple direct line, fairly -- pretty much a no-brainer, but he didn't say it.

BOEHNER: Well, they -- they've refused to talk about America exceptionalism. We are different than the rest of the world. Why? Because Americans have -- the country was built on an idea that ordinary people could decide what their government looked like and ordinary people could elect their own leaders....

....but you can't get the left to talk about it. They don't -- they reject that notion.

PARKER: Why do you think that is?

BOEHNER: I don't know. I don't know. I don't know if they're afraid of it, whether they don't believe it. I don't know.

As the article says,

Honestly, were Boehner and Parker even awake during the speech? If so, they heard Obama talk about the qualities that "set us apart as a nation" and the things we do "better than anyone else." And his belief that America is "not just a place on a map, but the light to the world" and "the greatest nation on Earth." And his reminder that "as contentious and frustrating and messy as our democracy can sometimes be, I know there isn't a person here who would trade places with any other nation on Earth."

Ms Parker has subsequently dumbled down, repeating it in an editorial column. How much ridiculouser can she get? Tow it behind an airplane?

Far be it from Rs to let a little information get in the way of their latest assumption of supporter idiocy. If it works, we're using it, they've obviously decided. Sort of like the big lie concept of Goebbels. Not that I'd say such a thing.

Too divisive.

How about this, then: Listening to our new Speaker spew such sorry stuff, how could anyone believe the man is seriously interested in good governance? Observing the RWS™ continue the emptiness, how can anyone take anything they say seriously? How can anyone deny the contempt they have for their followers? If this vacuous, stupid, and patently false (as well as entirely meaningless) assertion is among those things by which they think they can moove their sheep, there are only a few explanations: they are idiots, they think their listeners are idiots, their listeners are idiots.

When will it end? When will they get serious about the needs of our country?

Seriously. When?

What a lying sack of shit bastard. This kind of crap is what they want the left to compromise with?

If he claims not even to hear what the left have been saying since 2000 when the Supreme Court chose the president, when we pointed out that the Tea Party was funded by the insurance industry to get the least qualified people in Congress, people who don't understand that there is no amount of cost-cutting that can ever be done to reduce the deficit without increasing revenue inflow?

Sid, so often I hear people say "Government should be run like a business, spending only what they have."

The government is a business, but businesses borrow money to pay for the services they provide. Then they collect and pay down the debt, but this crowd wants to reduce the income they use to service the debt, and they want to cut prices for the people who can pay the bill and raise them for the people who have the most trouble paying the bill.

The main bills the R clowns have introduced since taking over have been for show. They voted to kill Obamacare, knowing that they couldn't do it. They are getting ready to define rape as only forcible so that women who have been raped and can't afford to have abortions will have to carry their rapists' child.

It's all for show, and how is the President supposed to work with these people when they don't even acknowledge realities?

Of course, with their positions on evolution and AGW, they have shown that they care little for reality so no one should be surprised.

Listen, I am an American, and for the most part happy to be so. But we aren't the only country in the world with a (putative) democratic republic. Other countries choose their own leadership. Even Egyptians have shown that the citizens have the power to decide when they have had enough of centralized power and that the leader has to go.

The left don't want to talk about it? Does he even listen to us? No. Or if he does, he lies about what we have to say about our government.

  3. Boner is about to get his peepee whacked - seems that this paragon of 'Christian' conservative virtue has a *mistress named Lisbeth.

*Mistress - something between a Mr. and a mattress!!

It was only a matter of time of course - it being a law of nature that the more so-called "Conservatives" squeal about family values, the surer it is they indulge in closet gayness, diaper fetishism, wife beating, child molesting, mule boffing, or other some-such weird way of getting off.

Now we will be treated to the usual chorus of obligatory, defense of the indefensible, performed, on cue, with the rehearsed credulity of RWS.

    DrekMan? SSWoman? Ready, on three!
