Bible Study

Okay, sure, he used some bad words. But is he wrong about the hypocrisy?

I'm pretty certain there is no one on the planet, not a single person, who follows to the letter the demands of the bible. The dietary rules alone eliminate probably ninety-nine percent; even most Jews don't make it. Killing the bride because she's not a virgin? Killing your son if he mouths off, doesn't keep the sabbath? Heck, those jihadist Muslims follow biblical teachings more than their Christian brethren, and they're reading a different book!

So why the selective clinging to the word as it supposedly applies to homosexuality, among all the others that are ignored, deliberately, happily, unrepentantly? Literalism, it would appear, applies only when it conforms to your prejudices, and to what's not too hard. Only when it's convenient.

Given how profligately it's otherwise ignored, using the Bible to justify legislating or voting against same sex marriage is no more than a rationalization for fear and hatred; every one of the people using that excuse are guilty of disregarding dozens of other biblical admonitions, every day of their lives. And I've yet to hear a cogent explanation of how it threatens the institution of marriage, nor acknowledgment of how the rampantly polygamous biblical version of marriage differs from the one they claim they're trying to protect.

Considering what he's up against, I'd say Dan Savage was admirably mild-mannered. Wouldn't you?

and while I may disagree with Mr. Savages views, I'll defend till his death from AIDs his right to spread them.
Just not to the blood supply....
So howcome both BLKOTUS(Bin-Laden-Killer-of-the-US)and DAVPOTUS(Dumb-Ass-VP-OTUS)don't support Mr. Savages right to marry another Ho, I mean Man?
And I mean a REAL marriage where your miserable and costs you a fortune...
I know, there "Evolving" so in 50 billion years maybe they'll overturn DOMA, signed by Ahh, You know who signed it...

  2. The difference between the OTUSs you mention and the homophobic wingers is that the former admit they have person (and presumably religious) hesitation about same-sex marriage but they realize it's their own views and do not try to impose them on others; and they've never supported laws to prevent it. Which is exactly how it ought to be: don't like same sex marriage? Don't do it.

They've done more for gay rights than any previous OTI.

  3. Ahhhh Sid...
I think my Fluffy-Kitty-Boarding example messed with yo' hai'd(interfered with your congitive abilities)
Cause I checked my Sources, and VPOTUS Dummo voted "yay" for DOMA, which, last time I checked, applies to Everybody in the US of A, regardless of race, color, creed, or love for Judy Garland Movies(I'm a Shirley Temple man myself).
I mean, he didn't even just "Yes" but "Yay".
But you owe it to yourself to watch "Gamechange", I don't know, get you and the Missus a room down at the Ramada, that 5 second scene of Biden flexing like the Hulk before debating that Waterhead Palin...

    Its worth the $19.95/month...
