Even diehard Trumpists in our state know he’s lying about vote-by-mail. We’ve done it, scandal-free, for years. His claim that it’s rife with fraud is absurd, so much so that you’d think the aforementioned delusionaries would wonder: if he lies so blatantly about this, maybe the people calling him a constant, pathological liar are right.
Unless it wasn’t covered on Fox “news,” Trumpists also know the only fraud related to mailed ballots was in the 2016 election, in North Carolina, where Republican operatives collected ballots from trusting people in Democratic districts, promising to turn them in, saving them the trouble. The ballots were squirreled.
Why are Trump and Trumpists afraid of vote-by-mail? Most studies have shown it favors neither party; in fact, by making it easier for older folks to vote, and since older folks tend to vote conservative, some studies have suggested an advantage for Republicans. Wherefore, then, the obvious lies?
Simple: voting by mail foils Republicans’ time-tested tools of voter suppression and deceit. Closing or understaffing polling places in Democratic districts, limiting hours -- favorite forms of chicanery in red states -- become irrelevant. Hacking voting machines, in which Moscow Mitch knows Russians have dabbled but refuses to act, and the ease of which has been demonstrated by children, goes away.
Software-based vote-switching disappears, too. And mailed ballots can be reviewed, which, lacking paper records, most voting machines don’t allow; especially those preferred by red states, manufactured by Republican-donor companies like Diebold.
By neutralizing GOP voter suppression, voting by mail provides more opportunity for everyone, even Democrats. Mystery solved.
Parenthetically, the Fox-hyped report of thirty-eight-million “missing” mail-in ballots nationwide included every ballot mailed out and not returned. Ballots sent to the wrong address, ballots sent to people who didn’t vote. A loose definition of “missing.”
This week, Trump threw another tantrum: his favorite prevarication platform pushed back on his voting lies. Twitter, on which Trump spends hours daily, an activity to which he refers as “working,” attached links to some of his tweets, allowing readers to find the truth. In a signature would-be-dictator’s meltdown, he threatened to eliminate Twitter, showing, yet again, his – let’s call it – “misapprehension” of presidential power. And censorship. Big-tech social media squelches “conservative voices,” he whined.
If only. He’s been getting away with contumelious lies forever. Plus, if he’s conservative, Jeffery Dahmer was vegan.
Particularly ironic about this latest Donnie-brook is that his followers don’t care a snowflake’s worth if he’s lying; the last thing any of them would do is follow a link to bubble-bursting knowledge.
Twitter ought to have kicked him off, permanently. His definitionally insane, law-suit worthy implication that Joe Scarborough murdered an aide violates its rules in ways that are supposed to result in being expunged. But Twitter and Facebook have always allowed outrageous falsehoods to spread like swamp scum. Multi-billionaire Zuckerberg just told Fox “news” he won’t be fact-checking Trump. Twitter, though, says it will continue. Good.
Given such mendacity from a “president” so disconnected from reality, who models ignorance the way strippers model pasties, perhaps we should excuse our fellow citizens who consider it tyranny to be told to wear masks while hoarding toilet paper. Let’s hope their refusal is only Trump-augmented ignorance. Maybe they’re unaware that, because people can be carriers without being sick, wearing masks protects others from the wearer, not the other way around. If it’s not ignorance, then it’s “Trump doesn’t wear a mask, so I won’t, either. I don’t care if I make you sick.” Such people could properly be called deplorable.
It’s bad enough that ignorance has become fundamental to Trumpism. To think it’s hate-based, too, is worse. For many Trumpists, though, it is: in great-again America, they hang a Democratic governor in effigy, taunt and spit on people who care enough to wear masks. Asians are their latest target.
This week Trump sneered that a masked reporter was only being “politically correct.” And said he didn’t want to give reporters the “satisfaction” of seeing him (showing concern for Americans by) wearing one. That’s a deeply disturbed individual.
States run by denialist governors are now experiencing dramatically increased infections. By contrast, Governor Beshear, that effigized governor, is admirable. Here’s his response to the contemptable act. Improbably, Kentucky contains both him and Mitch McConnell.
True conservatives should be urging everyone to vote Trump out. Here in Washington, it’s easy. You can mail your ballot in, and you don’t even need postage.

  1. Can't wait for what will be done with the buzz-word "Trumptilla".
It will be fun to read.

"If you can't beat them, cheat them" is Donnie-brook's credo. He is unencumbered by any semblance of honor or credibility. Obviously, he has found an eager market for his pitch.
The fact that a huge majority of media sources are reporting and broadcasting negative responses to his BS does not deter his bogus attacks on this main-stream river of information.
History records the loyalty engendered by cult members to their Guru. Hanutty, Limp-paw, Silly-Ann Congirl, Lew Dubbs, and the other cheer leaders have been able to keep Donnie-brook afloat, but only a Russian style "October Surprise" can rescue him in November.

I didn't post the video of the CNN crew being arrested. So here's to those that ain't seen it yet.

Note this was a planned assault. A dozen cops joined the line on the right, you'll see them run in and line up. Then run out of formation and surround the news team and take down a civilian standing nearby.

They arrested the black dude first and then took the rest.Shocking I know...

    Evil hides behind badges folks.

  4. Let's hope they plan on doing something more than this letter:
    https://omar.house.gov/sites/omar.house.gov/files/Final%20Letter%20on%20George%20Floyd%27s%20Death.pdf
I wonder if they could have helped calm the crowd? (probably not)
Minneapolis?! Who would have thought something like this there? I've been there, it's a sleepy place (I felt right at home!), and voted in, well, have a look!: https://www.govtrack.us/congress/members/MN/5
    And, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Politics_of_Minnesota
What on earth is happening in our going-crazed world?
We're better than this folks. Now would be a good time for Minneapolis leadership to establish that.

  5. The mayor of Minneapolis is an impressive, young (38) guy. He's spoken movingly and forcefully. There's only so much he can do in a situation like this, though.

Has there ever been a protest of this size, against police, in which violence on both sides was absent? Or fires, smashed windows, and looting? Is there a way to prevent it entirely, short of massive military or police presence, firing more than tear gas and rubber bullets?

  6. I was very impressed by our city business owners response to the upcoming World Trade conference (whatever the heck it was), where they boarded up the windows in anticipation of the idiots that just want to break and loot everything, whether some fly in on airplanes to do that or not.
My suggestion for the city is to consider an improvement environment where things are boarded up in an engineered and aesthetic way, i.e., plan for civic unrest.
In NYC and other cities, there are all sorts of ways that things are barred up at night, not that their methods would be considered aesthetic.
It's just a fact of cities that dirtbags destroy and loot in riots.
As for the one who killed the man, that is the loneliest person on the planet at the moment, I think. I've seen the videos and pictures of what he did while he was doing it, just like millions have seen by now. Wow! Just wow!
btw, the thing that stops much is water, lots of water. Water storage on the roof in addition to an engineered manner of boarding up windows and entry points to buildings, and then the cascading of water down the sides of the buildings. But then, I'm being silly here, pretending that one person can make a difference against things.
One of the excuses of Ferguson, MO, was that instigators were flown in to start their riots. I saw something like that here, too, but, they couldn't have been flown in. I review flightaware.com and can tell you just about the only thing in the air is FedEx, UPS, Amazon Prime, DHL, and a few foreign airlines.
    Further to the incredible. Amazing!

  7. Note to Frankie: another failed attempt. But I must say I'm impressed with your white female Chief of Police going into the crowd of protestors and talking to them, hearing them.

  8. I shall respond later when I got time to think...I just saw Boeing is vaporizing 12,000 jobs.

Understand how they got their 8 billion of our tax dollars in a cash giveaway. The politicians came out of the woodwork to support it in the last minutes sensing defeat of the bill.

It was calculated that this handout would be enough to pay Boeing labor costs for 10 years. Also was supposed to guarantee to not move jobs and Boeing built a brand new plant on the east coast.

Too big to fail extends to corporations who are chosen by politicians who rely on said corporations donations. The circle of life. Meaning their business takes precedence over your life.

    Imagine Disney...

No Amusement parks or cruises. No movies. No sports. No nothing on down the list. Disney is destroyed and has to rise from the ashes somehow. 6 months ago you'd have laughed at the notion Disney could go bankrupt.

Sports is suddenly a whole new ballgame as well. Gate money is everything to these team owners. Without fans the owners stand to lose countless millions.

Unless new relief comes. We are all screwed.

    Smootherthanpeachfuzz,

I am disappointed in your pessimism. You used to be a source of patriotic determination that our great country could overcome any man-caused crisis with out losing faith in our democracy. The disastrous results of the criminal regime's corruption of constitutional power when they seized the Executive Office in 2016 WILL be reversed this year.
Military patriots and political opposition will prevail despite the minority die-hard MAGA efforts to subvert the election. We lost several years of sanity and justice, however, we shall overcome.

We are not going to allow an amoral demagogue and his boot-licking minions to flush the country down the toilet. So say we all!

  11. Yup.
As incredible to think "we" would make the mistake once, it won't be made again.
    That's faith.

His actions and words are becoming more desperate with each day, now that he realizes that he's history (very bad history) in just months. He's more erratic and dangerous than ever — likely to seize on *anything* in futile attempts to change the wind. I worry.

  13. This is Drumpf...It's what he's wanted to do all along. Declare martial law and rule as dictator. Never leaving office peacefully. Let's see if he gets away with this too...

"He called on governors to use their National Guard military police units to "dominate the streets" and said he would deploy the active duty military if governors failed to use the National Guard more forcefully.
He said he may invoke the 1807 Insurrection Act, which permits a president to deploy military inside the U.S. to deal with civil disorder."

  14. Here's what the world sees. We should all be so proud of our law enforcement. Cowards.

  15. Jack...

Don't confuse "Pessimism" with "A real problem that will end this country" if not taken care of. Using "Pessimism" as a catch all Pollyanna dismissive is how we got here. Pessimism or the lack there of is NOT the issue. The issue is equal rights. No, it's not going to get better on it's own. People are tired of being tired. I have experienced first hand what a buncha allholes they are. Cowards. Completely full of themselves and destructively protective of one another's crimes committed in the line of duty. The prosecutor, police unions, and the cops themselves are self serving and protecting only themselves and select city "leaders" AKA System Holders. AKA The peeps with the keys to the city. They all work in an alternate universe than I or anyone like me is in. A special group. Like Senators and their donors.

This is deep-seeded Jaxon...This isn't something a little air freshener will mask. We got people bunched together during a pandemic. We got a allholes in the White House who loves to incite violence. Now cops are brutalizing the media at will. Oh...and Drumpf wants to include N. Korea, Russia and China into the G-7. You prolly missed that news because Drumpf was ordering the brutalization of Americans for his photo op.

All I gotta say is if you are left with nothing to lose, this is what you get. Go along to get along isn't the answer to any problem. Not one.

Make no mistake. The Drumps and law enforcement, the criminal justice system is working exactly as it was intended. This is what the people asked for and payed for and they are getting it. For many people it's war. The war on drugs. Whatever other 'war' someone made up. War has been declared on America for decades. The poor know this. The feel it every day.

As long as the rich pay for cops and politicians. This is what you'll see. The power of the few used to stamp out the many who may oppose them.

That cop who killed that man...There's a reason the death sentence is a punishment. I hope that cop gets to fight on death row to save his life from now till he dies. I bet he has a good time in jail :O) Put them in general population. All of them.

    ReplyDelete
  16. Absolutely!
    Evil cowards!
When will we recognize the heroes and not the evil coward law enforcement?

    ReplyDelete
  17. For the record, I'd not characterize all law enforcement as "evil cowards." My neighbor is the deputy Chief of Police of Everett and is a really, really good guy. So are most of the cops I've met. That there are really bad ones, though, isn't in doubt.

  18. I'll underscore Sid's comment.

I have two police officers in my family. A brother, retired, and a brother-in-law are very good people and by-the-book officers. The former eventually became a DARE officer and taught and worked with middle school kids. The latter, a former accountant, runs a squad in Chicago.

  19. I have people in my life who are Sheriffs. I actually know them and know them on their beats as well. One went to FBI training by invitation. He's now the under Sheriff. But they've all been around for 20-25 years. That's not the problem. The problem is the union who protects them. The prosecutors and politicians who wink and nod.

People wanna yank teachers out of their jobs and bust unions because they are paid too much. Complain we can't fire em fast enough because of "the union". What about cops? Why can't we fire the bad ones? Why time and again do they go free when they've obviously beat the crap outta a black dude. If it's OK? Then why change policies at all? Rodney King should be the norm then.

I appreciate the good cops. EVERYONE does. The bad ones, and there are many, need to go. We need more and better training. Less hourly cops and better policing. More social workers and teachers. The cops are militarized and they know it. We all should know that. There's a reason the military doesn't police. Cops in tanks are basically military soldiers policing. The badge is the only difference. All the rest is exactly the same.

Law enforcement and the justice system is self serving. It's incredibly destructive. 1968 was the line of debarkation. Nixon till today. Trillions of dollars "Law and Order"ing of America. People are terrified of the cops and it's not an accident or some misunderstanding.

Some people...Wait...Almost all people are incapable of handling that kind of power. I've been arrested for no reason more than once. Been brutalized for no reason in front of my kids. Made sure to cuff me first. very brave that cop...or smart. My wrist surgically repaired because he clamped down the cuffs as tight as he could and it was 43 minutes. telling my to shut up repeatedly as I beg for relief. I almost passed out 3-4 times from the pain. I got to see the cogs turn to protect these cops. I didn't have a 2 cops issue. I suddenly had a 31 cop issue. Instantly, no questions asked. I was the enemy and I get harassed constantly. That's tamped down a lot but it's taken years. They turned every federal, state , county, city and neighborhood assets against me. Instantly mobilized. Cops working WITH gangs. And visa versa.

I'd like to see how anyone of them or anyone at all would fare in my shoes. I'm taking on the entire world and getting traction. It's not by accident. My situation is not unique and I am definitely not alone. It's happening coast to coast. As technology moves forward, the cops have a tighter grip on you. They can make a project out of anyone. Moving is not an option. The network is coast to coast and beyond. Cops read posts like mine. It pisses them and their friends and family off. Everyone's got a "Hey, my (family member) is a cop and awesome!" And I got a black friend who doesn't loot. We're even. I know a homeless dude too who's OK. I know lots of poor people as well who are just trying to make it. None are violent. None are looting. So why the cops everywhere? Why the tanks and helicopters? Why deliberately target and brutalize several news crews? Because they got the OK to do so from someone. That's why. Nobody stopped it either. The cops stood around and protected each other.

We are not talking about the "good cops". The good cops ain't doing a dang thing for 50 years. Look around and listen peoples. It's selfevident.

This dude's name is Jaxson too...He rocks...

  20. And now, just like that, no riots!
    "Peace"-full marches?
A new form of extortion has now been branded.
As if the world needs another...
I support the police. Even with all their ills.
This, because I imagine a world with them neutered, or non-existent, to be a much more dangerous one.
I watched the same videos, and from many perspectives, as everyone else. There is little doubt of the symbiotic relationship between these "peace"-full marches and the riots. That the police dealt with them in the fashion they did is testament to their professionalism, and their ability to handle the taunting directed their way.
I'll continue to hope for their continued upholding of the same.

  21. Here's the skinny on what police do to regular civilians practicing their first amendment rights. All cops know this is misused. Not a one will admit it. EVERYONE in the justice system knows many cops abuse their powers on a daily basis. Having a cop tell the truth in court is rare. It's rare folks. It's not a secret either. Cops are experts at playing the game. They are immune from subpoenas for example. It's all discretionary. But we the people, it's a life sentence. Why are cops by the thousands not outraged at their own conduct? Why are they not speaking out? I'll tell you why. They like the power and are terrified of losing their careers. Why should good cops be afraid of reprisals??? Be afraid of losing their jobs???

Anyway, watch the video guys...This is very real and very out of control.
