Time passes, relentless. My first without a mom.
On the other hand, there's this:
Happy Mothers' Day.
"The further a society drifts from the truth, the more it will hate those who speak it." Orwell
"“The price good men pay for indifference to public affairs is to be ruled by evil men.”
Plato
"The secret of freedom lies in educating people, whereas the secret of tyranny is in keeping them ignorant" Robespierre
The first two or three years after my mom died were hard, especially because I was always working the RenFaire on Mothers' Day, and I'd get asked five or six times "Have you called your mother?" Eventually everyone I worked with remembered.
ReplyDeleteNice pics = beautiful family.
ReplyDeleteSad to see the early pics and then when they aged. Bittersweet. I know your mom isn't suffering anymore ...but I also know that the finality of death on this side of things is sometimes sad ...remembering what was and will never be again ... on these special days.
I wore a ring Mom had given me and made a salad to be placed in a pretty glass bowl given to me by an aunt ...so that I had a little part of them with me as we celebrated Mother's day yesterday.
Funny how when young ...you really feel like you have forever and then when older ...you realize how short life is.
Good looking family Dr S. Your wife looks like someone fun to know. :)
We still have my m-i-l and then we have the kids and now 3 grandchildren. It was a blast playing with them and holding our new grandson.
I Missed mom, but it was still a wonderful day. I'm a young grandparent and so I hope will get to see the great and great great grandchildren. Not rushing it tho. :)
