This video needs no explication, except to point out, first, that Ted Olson is a strong conservative who defended GWB in Bush v. Gore; and, second, that it's a sober and straightforward response to idiots like Bill O'Reilly, Newt Gingrich, Mitt Romney, Rick Santorum, and the rest of the deluded and blinded RWS™ who see the decision as "judicial activism." It is, in fact, exactly the role of courts to prevent unconstitutional infringements on the rights of minorities, especially in these times of the peddling of hate for political gain.

I guess I should always include a parenthetical for you, Frank, explaining the point. In this case, what is and what is not judicial activism.
ReplyDeleteObama's views are irrelevant to the argument, although I guess it's important that he ended DADT and DOMA and is a strong supporter of gay rights, despite his personal religious views. Which is, you know, what used to pass for The American Way.

Okay, you're right. I misspoke, as Mitt said about poor people. Obama came out in support of repeal.
