Judy (my child bride) showed me a perfect quote from George Orwell. I'd like readers to note that it has  now replaced the subtitle of my blog. The man surely foresaw these times, did he not?

  1. I listened to BBC's Witness program about The Hobbit today. They observed that Tolkein, like Orwell and a long list of others, spent a chunk of their younger years getting shot at, and that experience seemed to sharpen their focus a bit.

  2. One good quote deserves another!
“Of all the preposterous assumptions of humanity over humanity, nothing exceeds most of the criticisms made on the habits of the poor by the well-housed, well- warmed, and well-fed.” -- Herman Melville

  3. A good one, too, RM. Perfect, in fact, for MItt and his 47% views.
